Lauren Coakley was born in Chattanooga, TN. She graduated from Notre Dame High School in 2009, and graduated with a degree in Art and Photography from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville in May of 2014. Her work covers a wide range of scenes; anything in the world that speaks to her.

Although her photographs vary in subject, one thing that stays constant is her use of natural lighting. She photographs everything from the nature living around us on land to below the surface with underwater portraits. Her favorite subject to experience with photography is the natural environment: both the scenes that lay unaffected by humans and the scenes we may overlook in our usually busy, everyday lives. “I would like to think my photography encourages the individual to ‘stop and smell the roses’ by enhancing various particular details.”

Through her knowledge and skill with cameras combined with her post-processing skills, she is capable of portraying the range of emotions she experiences upon viewing the scenes, while creating an alternative interpretation of the same image for her audience. She has been formally recognized and awarded for her artistic talent and for several of her photographs. She has been featured in many Juried Exhibitions including the Arts & Culture Alliance National Juried Exhibition.

She currently works as a freelance photographer out of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and is a part of a festival coverage photography team – “aLIVE Coverage"
